====================================================================== From the HSLDA E-lert Service... ====================================================================== October 27, 2009 Ohio: H1N1 Vaccinations for Homeschoolers Dear HSLDA Members and Friends, We understand that the decision to vaccinate is personal and will differ from family to family. We believe that this decision is for parents to make. For those who choose to vaccinate in Ohio, we have learned that local school districts are offering H1N1 vaccination for public school children, and that homeschooled children may not be included in vaccinations at public schools. However, we have learned that local health departments are having separate clinics for target groups, meaning a group that has been identified as being especially vulnerable, such as school-age children. Homeschool students should be able to receive vaccination at these clinics. If you want your child to be vaccinated and a public health department has turned you away, please contact us so that we may assist you. In some cases there simply may not be enough vaccine for all those who want it. However, homeschool children are members of the target group, "school-aged children," and should receive priority in receipt of the vaccine over individuals who are not in a target group.
