3200, the House version of the health care bill, because we see it as
a dangerous threat to parental rights.

HSLDA helped a member family refute a social worker's allegations that
included alleged abuse involving brussels sprouts.

3. Virginia: Truancy Threatened for Refusal to Disclose Grade Level

A public school official misinterpreted state law and threatened a
member family with truancy charges after they began home-educating
under the approved tutor provision. HSLDA helped resolve the matter.

4. California: New 2010 Law--Work Permits for Teens

Gov. Schwarzenegger is expected to sign A.B. 66, legislation that will
make it easier for private homeschool students who want to have a
part-time job to get work permits.

5. Quotes for High School Compositions

The next time you assign a composition to your high schooler, suggest
that he find a good quote to cite in his paper. The use of a fitting
quote may also be the catalyst to get one's own creative juices
flowing! To assist your teen in the search for a quote have him check
for this book in your library.

10. Generation Joshua's iGovern Summer Camps Motivate Youth

HSLDA's Generation Joshua division held two summer leadership camps
this year, one in Colorado Springs, Colorado, and one on the campus of
Patrick Henry College in Purcellville, Virginia. Over 175 young people
attended these challenging and rewarding camps. One student wrote an
exciting account of what he learned at iGovern East.
