Coming up on HSLDA @home e-vents: Did you know that under a new Missouri law, compulsory attendance now extends to age 17 unless a child has earned 16 high school credits? On Tuesday, August 25, at 3:00 (ET), HSLDA attorney Scott Woodruff will explain what a "credit" really is for homeschoolers and how they can earn one. Learn ways to adapt your record-keeping and college preparation to this new development. Don't fall behind the curve on this important change in the law! Woodruff will allow time to take your specific questions regarding this law change. Time permitting, Woodruff will also walk through other aspects of homeschool law for those who are relatively new to homeschooling in Missouri. (This is a members-only e-vent.) Then, continue to broaden your homeschool horizons on Tuesday, August 25, at 9:00 p.m. (ET). Dr. James Stobaugh addresses the significance of literature in a home education program and articulates the importance of learning to analyze literature for effective college preparation and for the establishment of a firm apologetics foundation. If you need some guidance through the choppy waters of college admissions, join HSLDA's High School coordinators Becky Cooke and Diane Kummer on Wednesday, August 26, at 1:00 p.m. (ET) for some homeschool-specific advice. Learn to navigate the college admissions process--including narrowing the selection of colleges, filling out college applications, applying for financial aid, and discerning whether your child is prepared for college spiritually, academically, and emotionally. Dr. James Stobaugh joins us again on Thursday, August 27, at 9:00 p.m. (ET) to overview appropriate writing goals and objectives from pre-K to college. Learn to balance teaching writing skills with nurturing the heart to develop a capable student, ready and able to articulate with eloquence. Tune in to this week's @home e-vents to find encouragement and inspiration for helping your children grow and learn at home! Space is limited for all e-vents, so register today!
