Missouri--Announcing the Families of Home Education
Back to School Homeschool and Leadership Conference!

Dear HSLDA Members and Friends:

The FHE Back to School Homeschool and Leadership Conference is coming
to your area on August 7-8, 2009. This event will be held at First
Baptist Grandview, 1416 Main Street, Grandview, MO 64030. It is free
for FHE members who pre-register by August 1, and $20 for non-FHE

HSLDA Attorney Scott Woodruff will be attending this conference to
explain recent changes in Missouri homeschool law:

"Under a newly passed Missouri law, compulsory attendance goes to age
17 unless a child has earned 16 credits, with a credit consisting of a
least 100 hours of instruction in a course. Scott Woodruff will
explain what a "credit" is and the hours of instruction required to
earn one, and how this impacts the records you need to keep and the
way you need to teach.

Along the same lines, President Obama's ambassador to the UN recently
said his administration is discussing ratifying the UN Convention on
the Rights of the Child. Woodruff will discuss what is actually in
this treaty, what it would mean for you as a parent if it is ratified,
and what we must do to stop it."

Additionally, HSLDA has two special offers:

> If you join or renew your membership at the conference for one year,
you'll receive a $10 coupon that you can use toward your membership
(at the conference only) or for purchasing our materials. Or...

> Join or renew for two years and receive either a $25 coupon that you
can use toward your membership (at the conference only) or the Drive
Thru History Greece/Rome, 2 disk set, retailed at $39.00, FREE. (This
offer does not include the $10 gift certificate.)

Please note that these offers are only valid at the conference.

-> Is customer service an art or a science?

For us, good customer service is both an art and a science
-it should appeal to our members and be effective. Consider what
our members say about us:

We're thankful for the support HSLDA membership provides us. We'd
never homeschool without them. We highly recommend HSLDA to all
homeschoolers. - North Tonawanda, NY

I cannot imagine our homeschool journey without HSLDA's strong
leadership, protection, and guidance. God bless HSLDA!
