HSLDA is conducting research on how single parents manage the demanding responsibilities that face them. Our goal is to compile information and resources to assist single parents who are considering homeschooling. If you've homeschooled as a single parent, we would love your help. Those who come behind you will be very grateful! Will you take a moment to fill out our online survey? Your answers will be kept strictly confidential. Our researchers may contact you for more information, and we may ask for permission to tell your story, but we will not disclose any information without your explicit permission.

Entries for the HSLDA 2009 photo contest will be accepted beginning July 1. Photos must illustrate one of three themes. As always, cash prizes will be awarded and winning entries will be posted on the HSLDA website.

Have you ever had an inspiring thought, an ingenious shortcut, or an "Aha! moment" that you wished you could share with other homeschoolers? Well, now you can! The Home School Court Report's Parent to Parent column provides opportunities for homeschooling parents to relay teaching tips, encouragement and advice. Our topic for the September/October 2009 issue is "Reasons we homeschool--A fresh look." Let's explore the reasons you chose to homeschool, the benefits of teaching at home, and how you maintain the vision to carry on. Send us a brief description (150 words or less). Every year the Home School Foundation sends Christmas cards to widows and single parents who have received assistance from the Foundation. We're asking homeschoolers to design the artwork for the cards (drawings or photography are allowed). This contest is for homeschool students OR teachers 15 years old and up. Submissions must be emailed to contest@hslda.org by August 1, 2009.
