1. Bright Spot: Young Volunteer Earns Four Awards

Homeschooler Hosanna Kabakoro of Twin Falls, Idaho, is being honored
with not one, not two or three, but four awards for volunteer service
in her community.

Read more about it at:

.....................................................................
2. Single Parents: Share Your Experience!

HSLDA is conducting research on how single parents manage the
demanding responsibilities that face them. Our goal is to compile
information and resources to assist single parents who are considering
homeschooling. If you've homeschooled as a single parent, we would
love your help. Those who come behind you will be very grateful! Will
you take a moment to fill out our online survey? Your answers will be
kept strictly confidential. Our researchers may contact you for more
information, and we may ask for permission to tell your story, but we
will not disclose any information without your explicit permission.

Take the survey:

4. Court Report Magazine: Parent Insight Needed

Have you ever had an inspiring thought, an ingenious shortcut, or an
"Aha! moment" that you wished you could share with other
homeschoolers? Well, now you can! The Home School Court Report's
Parent to Parent column provides opportunities for homeschooling
parents to relay teaching tips, encouragement and advice. Our topic
for the September/October 2009 issue is "Reasons we homeschool--A
fresh look." Let's explore the reasons you chose to homeschool, the
benefits of teaching at home, and how you maintain the vision to carry
on. Send us a brief description (150 words or less). Submissions may
be edited for space. Email us, including "Parent to Parent" in the
subject line, at ComDept@hslda.org. Or mail submissions to:
