Minnesota--Call and Write Now to Support Homeschool Freedom

Dear HSLDA Members and Friends,

HSLDA has been working closely with MACHE to extend homeschool freedom
in Minnesota. Due to the state's budget crisis, the homeschool
community has an opportunity to reduce mandated reporting
requirements. Both the Minnesota Senate and House have included
various provisions of the homeschool mandate reductions bill in the
large omnibus education bill that is currently in a conference
committee. Senator Gen Olson, sponsor of the homeschool mandate
reduction bill, is on the conference committee.

Please contact members of the conference committee, if you are their
constituents, and ask them to include all of the homeschool mandate
reduction provisions.

If you live in one of the districts below, please contact your House
representative by Friday, May 8, 2009.

Please encourage your House representative to support the homeschool
mandate reduction provisions in the Omnibus K-12 Finance bill. To find
out which district you live in go to: Give them this message in
your own words:

"Please support the homeschool mandate reduction provisions in the
Omnibus K-12 Finance Bill. The provisions from the Senate version,
S.F. 1328, will save the state money by eliminating unnecessary
reporting requirements. The bill also recognizes the good work
homeschoolers have done in educating their children by somewhat
reducing the bureaucracy they go through every year to comply with
Minnesota's homeschool law."

Rep. Carlos Mariani, 65B (DFL-St. Paul) 651-296-9714 -
Rep. John Ward, 12A (DFL-Brainaed) 651-296-4333 -

We don't know! But we do know that gathering little by little
enables ordinary folks to prepare for hard times. That principle
is behind HSLDA's payment plan: by paying a month at a time,
families can receive an annual HSLDA membership. Meanwhile, they
can feel secure as they homeschool and focus on other priorities
-- their children. Don't go nuts trying to pay for membership all
once. Choose one of our convenient payment plans.
