Vermont--Come to the Capitol!
Dear HSLDA Members and friends:
Please see the following schedule for details regarding the Homeschool Day at the Capitol set for tomorrow, April 21, 2009:
At 11:00 a.m. homeschool families will meet at the State House steps (weather permitting). There is a nearby pavilion auditorium available should the weather be poor. Those in attendance will get the opportunity to hear about the legislative process, Vermont's homeschool history and other general information regarding homeschooling. HSLDA Staff Attorney Michael Donnelly will attend and be available to speak with you.
At 11:45 a.m. homeschool families will walk to the State House for a group picture, and then into the House Chambers to meet with the Governor and possibly some legislators until around 1:00 p.m.
A few other items of interest:
> Be sure to bring umbrellas and/or rain jackets just in case the weather is poor.
> There will be no cookie project or book fair this year.
> There is a shuttle bus; however, it can only hold a limited number of people. For information on the shuttle, its route and schedule visit: http://www.hslda.org/elink.asp?id=6416 and http://www.hslda.org/elink.asp?id=6417 .
> Please remember to show respect for the legislators and behave responsibly while in the State House, as this is their place of work.
If you have additional questions, please contact Retta Dunlap at vhen@comcast.net
HSLDA will be offering special discounts on new memberships and renewals at the State House. These discounts include:
> $10 off a one year membership or renewal
> $25 off a two-year membership or renewal or the Drive Thru History Greece/Rome, 2 disk set, retailed at $39.00, FREE.
Please note that these offers are only valid at the State House.
We greatly appreciate your willingness to take this opportunity to support homeschool freedom in Vermont. Hope to see you there!
