Kansas and Missouri--Reminder:
Announcing 2009 Midwest Parent Educator Conference!

Dear HSLDA Members and Friends:

The 2009 Midwest Parent Educator Conference is coming to your area
this weekend, April 16-18.

The conference will begin with a keynote address on Thursday, April
16, at 7 p.m. at Emmanuel Baptist Church on 10100 Metcalf Ave.,
Overland Park, KS 66212.

Don't miss this free opportunity to hear HSLDA Co-founder and Chairman
Michael P. Farris speak on "Homeschooling Freedom: Past, Present and
Future." Registration is not required for the opening event on
Thursday night. We urge you to come and bring your friends to find
out more about the important subject of Parental Rights.

On April 1, 2009, the Congressional Research Service released an
official analysis of the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child. Why
was this issued right now? This report states that action to put this
UN child rights treaty before the Senate is anticipated in this
present term of Congress. Georgetown Law School has scheduled a
symposium on June 1-2 to promote the ratification of this treaty. The
battle lines are being drawn. We need to be educated and we need to
bring our friends into the network to help them understand.

You have a chance to come and bring your friends to hear in person
America's leading expert opposing the UN Convention on the Rights of
the Child--and it is all for free. Please come and bring your

The conference will continue on Friday and Saturday at a separate
location: the KCI Expo Center at 11730 North Ambassador Drive, Kansas
City, MO 64153. To register, or for more information on the
conference schedule, please contact the Midwest Parent Educators at:

We are keenly aware that our parental and homeschool freedoms are best
preserved when we all stand together to defend them. We look forward
to seeing you soon!

-> Extreme makeovers are for extreme circumstances...

Most homeschools don't need an extreme makeover, but there is
something to be said for attention to detail and recognition of
accomplishments. Watch the media and you'll soon see that not
everyone wants home educators and homeschooling to look good.
HSLDA works hard to shed light on the good work of home educators
so it's obvious that we don't need someone "making-over" our
homeschools. Join HSLDA and help us show the world that we're fine
as we are . . . thank you!
