House Bill 1171, legislation that would remove homeschool monitors for parents with at least a high school diploma or GED, has passed both the House of Representatives and the Senate. It is now in the hands of the governor who is being lobbied heavily by homeschool opponents to veto this bill. It is vitally important that you contact the governor and urge him to sign House Bill 1171. ACTION REQUESTED: (1) Please call and/or email Governor John Hoeven with this message in your own words: "Please sign House Bill 1171 which would modernize North Dakota's homeschool law to bring it in line with the majority of states. Homeschooling parents have earned the right to less state oversight of their instructional programs." (2) Please forward this email to every family you know who is not a member of HSLDA and urge them to contact the governor with this same message.
