====================================================================== From the HSLDA E-lert Service... ====================================================================== Missouri--Protect Our Kids' Jobs--Hearing April 7 Dear HSLDA Members and Friends, A bill that would prevent state and local agencies from refusing to hire homeschool graduates just because they were homeschooled, Senate Bill 232, will come up for a crucial hearing next week. If you know of a homeschooler who was refused a job--unless he got a GED-- by a fire department, police, sheriff, road maintenance agency, or any other state or local agency or department, we need to hear by Monday! ACTION REQUESTED Email your story to mofamnet@ldd.net . Include plenty of details (see below for examples). Keep in mind that the most helpful stories will be ones where you personally know what happened. If you know of a good story, but you know that someone else has more first-hand knowledge, urge THEM to email their story in. When a qualified young person is rejected for a job for a reason unrelated to the actual job qualifications, everyone loses. Please pass this on to others. BACKGROUND This is the kind of detail that would be very helpful: > What agency was involved > What job the grad applied for > What the grad was told > What the grad did after that > What the final result was S.B. 232 passed the Senate unanimously on March 12. But we need help in the House! Please send your story by Monday. We may be able to use it if you send in Tuesday before noon, but that leaves very little time for follow-up before the hearing.
