====================================================================== From the HSLDA E-lert Service... ====================================================================== March 25, 2009 New Hampshire--H.B. 367 Voted Inexpedient to Legislate by the Full House Dear HSLDA Members and Friends, The message sent by over 1,000 homeschoolers at the hearing for H.B. 367 in February was understood by New Hampshire lawmakers. The New Hampshire House voted H.B. 367 inexpedient to legislate. We are grateful to all of our members and friends who expressed their concern by contacting legislators, attending the Capitol Day and making the effort to oppose this restrictive bill at hearings. Thanks also to the many organizations and supporters of homeschoolers throughout New Hampshire, including Christian Home Educators of New Hampshire and the New Hampshire Homeschool Coalition. Thanks to your efforts this harmful legislation will not affect homeschool freedom in New Hampshire this year. As you know, H.B. 368 was "retained" by the committee. During the hearings Chairman Emma Rouse described H.B. 368 as a "vehicle" to continue to "study" the homeschool laws in New Hampshire. This means that next year we will have another opportunity to visit the State House and explain to the Education Committee and to the House that New Hampshire's homeschool doesn't need any fixing. HSLDA will be working with New Hampshire homeschool leaders and organizations, including Christian Home Educators of New Hampshire (CheNH), to keep you informed of the latest developments.
