Tennessee: Attend the Rally Day at the Capitol!

The Tennessee Home Education Association invites all home-educating
families to the Capitol Hill Rally Day on Tuesday, March 24, 2009.
Will Estrada, the National Director of Generation Joshua, will be
speaking. The Rally is in the War Memorial Auditorium (WMA) located
across Charlotte Avenue from the Capitol building between 6th and 7th
avenues and Charlotte and Union. There are steps up to the WMA
entrance from 7th Avenue and from 6th Avenue. The Rally begins at 8:45
and concludes at 11:30.

In my 18 years at HSLDA I have seen how effective capitol lobby days
are in preventing bad legislation. A face-to-face meeting between a
legislator and a homeschooling family gives the legislator the
opportunity to see firsthand the positive benefits of homeschooling.
Informed homeschooling constituents who meet with and demonstrate
interest in their legislator's activities provide that legislator with
reasons to vote in favor of maintaining homeschool freedom. If a
legislator never meets a homeschooler, he may have no reason to
support parental freedom to homeschool and may vote against
homeschooling if presented with the issue.

In addition to protecting your freedom, the Rally Day at the Capitol
provides a great opportunity to your children for a field trip to
learn about state government and how laws are made in Tennessee.

Plan ahead and make an appointment with your legislators. Take
advantage of this opportunity. Don't miss this year's great event!

Below are MORE reasons to attend the Tennessee Home Education
Association Rally Day at the Capitol:
> Dispel any negative myths of the homeschool movement.
> Give legislators an understanding of the large numbers of
homeschoolers within the state.
> Spend one-on-one time with your legislator.
> Show legislators that the homeschool movement is alive and well.
> Let legislators know that homeschoolers participate in the political
process by voting.
