Dear HSLDA Member and Friends: Let's fill the state Capitol with homeschoolers on March 17! The Network of Iowa Christian Home Educators' "Homeschool Day at the Capitol" in Des Moines aims to bring the people to the portal of laws and visibly show lawmakers our dedication to homeschool freedom. Perhaps you will even meet one of your state legislators--and create a personal relationship that could help preserve our freedom. HSLDA has observed that sometimes the difference between having a good law and a bad law is whether one legislator has a good relationship with a single homeschool family. I will be speaking twice during the course of the day. I need you (especially teenagers) to help me in the afternoon put on a live demonstration of what life would be like if the U.S. Senate passes the U.N. Convention on the Rights of the Child like Senator Barbara Boxer wants. Many other events are planned. Registration is also available the morning of the event starting at 9:00 a.m. This event will be highly educational, and well worth taking a day off "school"--and a day off work!
