====================================================================== From the HSLDA E-lert Service... ====================================================================== New Hampshire: H.B. 367 is ITL, But 368 Lives on for Yet another "Study" Dear New Hampshire Members and Friends, Today the New Hampshire House Education Committee debated H.B. 367 and 368 in executive session and voted to retain H.B. 368 as a vehicle to yet again study "home education" in New Hampshire. H.B. 367 was voted ITL (inexpedient to legislate). A bill retained in the committee for study is reported back out of the committee by November 1 for possible further action in the legislature's next session. Voting followed party lines, with all Democrats in the committee agreeing to retain the bill. The committee hearing room was full, and nearly 100 people watched the hearings over the Internet. There is no doubt that your message came through. While a study is less threatening in the short-term, this outcome virtually guarantees that we'll have to address the issue again during the next legislative session. New Hampshire homeschool leaders will meet soon to discuss strategy for this latest effort by the legislature to restrict homeschools. We will send requests for action in the near future. In the meantime, you can read about the hearing at www.hslda.org/nh Thank you for your commitment to freedom in the "Live Free or Die" State! Sincerely, Michael P. Donnelly Staff Attorney ---------------------------------------------------------------------- -> Have you ever yelled into the wind, only to hear the sound of your voice blown back at you? It's hard to be heard in the midst of a storm. Trying to influence federal legislation is much like yelling to be heard while standing in a fierce wind. Yet when 80,000 voices join together, they become a powerful force that cannot be drowned out. Join HSLDA to be heard above the tempests that threaten homeschool freedoms.
