====================================================================== From the HSLDA E-lert Service... ====================================================================== West Virginia--Sponsor Withdraws Support for Sports Bill Dear HSLDA Members and Friends, This morning, while radio host Tom Roten was interviewing Delegate Margaret Anne Staggers and me live on WVHU, Del. Staggers said that she did not support her own bill, H.B. 2749, the sports access bill, as written. Your phone calls had an impact! Del. Staggers said she never intended to abolish the portfolio option for all homeschoolers or to make it easier for families to be forced to stop homeschooling. Those features of the bill were inserted without her prior approval at the initiative of the staff bill drafters, she explained. In light of this welcome development, and feedback we have received from other delegates following your phone calls, we request that families make no more calls to members of the House Education Committee or Del.
