====================================================================== From the HSLDA E-lert Service... ====================================================================== Virginia--Calls Needed Now to Help Pass a Tax Credit for Homeschoolers Dear HSLDA Members and Friends: We need your calls this evening and Tuesday morning (Feb. 10) to the Virginia House of Delegates. We urge you to call to support House Bill 1965, introduced by Delegate Christopher B. Saxman, to provide a tax credit to homeschool, private school, and public school students in the form of a scholarship for tuition, books, and educational fees. The bill will allow nonprofit 501(c)3 organizations to establish scholarships for any and all students. Anyone who gives to the 501(c)3 organization for a scholarship for the homeschooler can obtain a tax credit. The scholarships are available for any homeschooler whose parents make up to $90,000 per year. A similar law was successfully enacted in Arizona and has been used to help many students over the last seven years. It is important that you contact representatives Tuesday morning. It is our hope that the House of Delegates will pass this tax credit bill. You may view the bill at http://www.hslda.org/elink.asp?id=6083 . ACTION Please call your Virginia delegate and give the following message: "We are parents of school-age children who need tax relief. Please support House Bill 1965, which will provide scholarships for tuition, books, and educational fees. We thank you for supporting this measure." To find your delegate, go to http://www.hslda.org/elink.asp?id=6084 . Your action will determine the success of this tax credit measure that will provide significant tax relief for homeschoolers. Sincerely, Scott A. Woodruff, Esq. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- -> Will your children's inheritance retain its value?
