Montana--Attend the Legislative Day at the Capitol!

The Montana Coalition of Home Educators invites all home-educating
families to the Legislative Day at the Capitol on Wednesday, February
18, 2009. Please plan to arrive before 10:30 a.m. Senator Dan McGee
and Representative Scott Sales will give a welcoming address.

In my 18 years at HSLDA I have seen how effective capitol lobby days
are in preventing bad legislation. A face-to-face meeting between a
legislator and a homeschooling family gives the legislator the
opportunity to see firsthand the positive benefits of homeschooling.
Informed homeschooling constituents who meet with and demonstrate
interest in their legislator's activities provide that legislator with
reasons to vote in favor of maintaining homeschool freedom. If a
legislator never meets a homeschooler, he may have no reason to
support parental freedom to homeschool and may vote against
homeschooling if presented with the issue.

In addition to protecting your freedom, the Legislative Day at the
Capitol provides a great opportunity to your children for a field trip
to learn about state government and how laws are made in Montana.

Plan ahead and make an appointment with your legislators. Take
advantage of this opportunity. Don't miss this year's great event!

Below are MORE reasons to attend the Montana Coalition of Home
Educators Legislative Day at the Capitol:

> Dispel any negative myths of the homeschool movement.
> Give legislators an understanding of the large numbers of
homeschoolers within the state.
> Spend one-on-one time with your legislator.
> Show legislators that the homeschool movement is alive and well.
> Let legislators know that homeschoolers participate in the political
process by voting.

We hope you can come this year!

Sincerely,

Dewitt T. Black, III

"We've been a Liberty Mutual customer for over 12 years. We
called and asked about our HSLDA member discount and they lowered
our premium by approx $95 per year...coincidentally the same
amount as our HSLDA annual membership fee. Thought you'd want to
know!!'"
