New Mexico--Calls Needed Today to Stop Domestic Partnerships
Dear HSLDA Members and Friends,
The Domestic Partnership Act is back after you helped defeat it last
year. We need your help so we can defeat it again.
We are working with CAPE-NM and other family groups to defeat Senate
Bill 12, the Domestic Partnership bill. Our goal is to together
deliver hundreds, if not thousands, of phone calls to the Senate
Public Affairs and Judiciary Committees TODAY. We need every
homeschooler and concerned citizen to call today. S.B. 12 is expected
to be heard in a joint committee meeting today, Wednesday, January
28th, at 2:30 p.m.
ACTION REQUESTED
Call each of the senators on the Senate committees today and, in your
own words, give them this message:
"Please vote no on S.B. 12. This bill elevates same-sex persons to
that of married men and women. The rights and benefits can be obtained
through private agreement and the state does not need to endorse such
an agreement."

There is no need to identify yourself as a homeschooler.
BACKGROUND
Your right to homeschool rests on another freedom: the freedom to
direct the education and upbringing of your children. Underlying your
right to homeschool are parental rights, which are supported by the
sanctity of marriage. Anything that undermines marriage may ultimately
undermine parental rights and therefore threaten your freedom to
homeschool.
