Ohio: Committee to Discuss Proposed Changes to Homeschool Regulation
Dear HSLDA Members and Friends:
The State Board of Education unanimously voted in October to accept the proposed technical changes to the home education regulation. These proposed changes have now been sent to the Joint Committee on Agency Rule Review of the Ohio Legislature. The changes, which were not harmful to homeschoolers, are expected be reviewed this month. HSLDA continues to work with CHEO and its legislative liaison, Melanie Elsey, to monitor the regulations.
For more information go to http://www.hslda.org/elink.asp?id=5876 .
I would also like to point out to you that CHEO is preparing to celebrate its 25th anniversary and has a special convention planned for this year. HSLDA Special Needs Coordinator Dianne Craft and I will be attending from HSLDA, and there are a number of other speakers lined up, including Rick and Marilyn Boyer, Steve Demme, Andrew Pudewa and Phil Downer. I've been blessed to hear all of these speakers, and they are truly outstanding. You won't want to miss them or any of the other special events CHEO has planned. Please put June 25-27 on your calendar now. For more info you can visit www.cheohome.org.
HSLDA is pleased to serve its members and resolve issues specific to their families and school districts. Your membership allows us to advocate for homeschooling freedom in Ohio, with our federal government, and all over the world. We thank you for your attention to these important matters of freedom and for your ongoing support.
Sincerely,
Michael P. Donnelly, Esq. Staff Attorney

We don't know that this has ever been determined; but we do know that HSLDA's National Center for Home Education is the only national organization lobbying on behalf of homeschoolers on Capitol Hill.
