~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Home School Foundation Report ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Friends of the Home School Foundation, The new school year brought with it many new challenges and opportunities to serve. The recent hurricanes resulted in quite a few families contacting our organization for help. At the same time, the unstable economic situation has made times rough for many other homeschoolers. Please continue to pray for the Foundation as we seek to reach as many families as we can and also obtain the resources to offer timely assistance. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Because You Helped We continually receive letters and notes from homeschooling families who have been blessed by our grants. Each one who has prayed and/or given is a part of the blessings. Here are just a few that testify to the power of your gifts: "I just wanted to thank the Home School Foundation for everything they have done for me and my family. I know the Lord has provided this scholarship for us, which shows me that He still wants us to continue down this homeschooling path. This help has been a ray of sunshine in these dark days we have been experiencing. I hope you are all abundantly blessed as you serve our great and mighty God."--Heather V. Go to our website to find out how to order your book: http://www.hslda.org/elink.asp?id=5774 . ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Help Available for Hurricane Victims In light of the devastation caused by the recent hurricanes, the Home School Foundation would like to remind you that our Emergency Fund stands ready to quickly respond to the financial needs of homeschooling families experiencing this sudden crisis. Our Emergency Fund can help replace curriculum and other homeschooling items lost because of the hurricane damage. The fund also provides relief for some of the immediate needs of affected homeschooling families. If you are in need, aware of any homeschooling families in need of relief, or if you would like to donate, please contact us at info@homeschoolfoundation.org or (540)338-8688. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Combined Federal Campaign Donations You may not know that the Home School Foundation is a qualified charity for the Combined Federal Campaign (CFC). Soon it will be time for military families to designate donations for CFC. If you are such a family, we hope you will consider the Home School Foundation for the 2008-2009 campaign--and even pass the word along to others. The number of families applying to us for help grows every year, and it is only through donations from compassionate homeschooling families that we are able to help them. Our CFC number is 10535. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Christmas Card Contest Winners Announced Every year the Home School Foundation sends Christmas Cards to the widows and single parents who have received assistance from the Foundation. This Christmas Season, we hosted a special contest to give homeschoolers an opportunity to design the artwork for the Christmas greeting cards. We had three categories and many beautiful entries.
