Dear HSLDA Members and Friends: HSLDA is working with Dr. Brian Ray of the National Home Education Research Institute (NHERI) and HOME (Home Educators of Maine) on two new studies of the academic performance of homeschooled children. HSLDA has helped sponsor similar studies in the past, and they have proven to be a powerful force in showing lawmakers, the public, and the media that homeschooling works. The new studies will go a long way in helping to preserve, protect and promote homeschooling in Maine. But we need your involvement! If you gave your homeschool children a standardized achievement test during the period of January through August of 2008 (for example, Iowa Test of Basic Skills, California Achievement Test, Stanford Achievement Test, Terra Nova, etc.), please participate. One study covers the nation; the other is Maine-specific. But you will only need to fill out one survey to participate in both studies.
