====================================================================== From the HSLDA E-lert Service... ====================================================================== September 26, 2008 Nevada--Notice of Intent to Homeschool Reminder Dear HSLDA Members, This is a reminder that if you are homeschooling your child for the first time this year, you must submit a notification form to the superintendent of the public school district in which your child lives. This notice of intent must be filed: a) before you begin to homeschool the child, b) no later than 10 days after the child has been formally withdrawn from public school, OR c) no later than 30 days after establishing residency in Nevada. The purpose of the notice of intent is to inform the school district that your child is exempt from the compulsory public school attendance requirement. The notice of intent must include: 1) Full name, age and gender of the child; 2) Name and address of each parent filing the notice of intent to homeschool; 3) A statement signed and dated by each such parent declaring that the parent has control or charge of the child and the legal right to direct the education of the child, and assumes full responsibility for the education of the child while the child is being homeschooled; 4) An educational plan for the child; 5) If applicable, the name of the Nevada public school which the child most recently attended; and 6)An optional privacy statement that the parent may sign. If the name or address of the parent or child changes, the parent must file a new notice of intent no later than 30 days after the change.
