Florida--Notice of Intent and Annual Evaluation Reminder
Dear HSLDA Members,
For those operating under Florida's homeschool law, this is a reminder
that your one-time notification or annual evaluation may be due soon.
If you are homeschooling your children for the first time, you must
submit a notice to the county superintendent in writing within 30 days
of establishing your homeschool. The notice must include the names,
addresses, and birth dates of your students who are between the ages
of 6 (by February 1) and 16.
If you homeschooled your children during the 2007-2008 school year,
your annual evaluation may be due soon. Because the evaluation must
be submitted annually, it is due to the superintendent within one year
of the date of your original notice of intent submission.
Some school districts have communicated to the Florida homeschool
leadership that some families have neglected to submit their
evaluations to the school district by the one-year anniversary of
filing their notice. We recommend that you be diligent in filing your
evaluations because it is required by law.
