====================================================================== From the HSLDA E-lert Service... ====================================================================== September 26, 2008 Indiana--Announcing the 2008 Map Your Future Event Dear HSLDA Members and Friends: The Indiana Foundation for Home Schooling invites you to Map Your Future, a high school, college, and career planning day for 7th-12th grade homeschoolers and their parents. The event will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., October 10, 2008 at Chapel Rock Christian Church in Indianapolis. HSLDA High School Coordinators Becky Cooke and Diane Kummer will be guest speakers, teaching many sessions including "Building on a Sure Foundation--Staying the Course through High School," "Developing a Four-Year Plan," "Teaching Options to Diversify Your High School," "College Admissions Process," and "High School Transcript Clinic: Practical Help and Tips." There will also be local presenters offering over 20 other break-out sessions--some for teens, some for parents. Event planners expect about 35 colleges and support organizations to participate in the morning info fair. A Chick-fil-A lunch will be available on site, since the day will be full of informative guidance. Teens will enjoy the sessions, talking with college admissions staff, the great prize giveaways from the exhibitors and a chance to win one of two $1,000 scholarships provided by USA Funds! New this year is the first 5K Walk for Education to be held from 3:30 to 4:30. All families may participate. Families that fundraise for the walk will receive tickets for drawings for an additional $1,000 scholarship as well as iPods and other prizes. Funds raised will allow IFHS to provide more college scholarships for homeschooled teens. Registration is $20 per family if you sign up online by Sept. 30. Registration at the door will be $30 per family.
