====================================================================== From the HSLDA E-lert Service... ====================================================================== August 15, 2008 Texas--Reminder--Announcing the 2008 Annual North Texas Home Educators Network Conference Dear HSLDA Members and Friends: [This is a correction: the email we sent a moment ago indicated J. Michael Smith as the signer, but this is actually from Scott A. Woodruff, who will be speaking at the Plano conference, not Mr. Smith.] I hope to see many of you next week, August 22 and 23, when I come to speak at the 2008 Annual North Texas Home Educators Network Conference at the Plano Centre, 2000 East Spring Creek Parkway, Plano, Texas 75074. I'll be speaking on: "For Dads Only--Man to Man", and "They Want Us Extinct: The Threat to Homeschool Freedom from California, Germany, the NEA and the UN." The dad's talk should be a great encouragement for the new homeschool dad whose head is still spinning a bit, or the old-timer who thinks he's seen it all. The "Extinct" talk is a comprehensive assessment of that fragile, precious jewel we call "freedom"--who wants to steal it, and how to make sure we pass this blessing on to our children and our children's children. I would also like to personally invite you to join me at 12:00 noon on Friday, August 22, for a special reception to help celebrate HSLDA's 25th anniversary. Light refreshments will be provided, and all those attending will receive a $10 merchandise gift certificate! We will show a 6-minute video on the history of homeschooling and I will give 15-minute talk about homeschooling in Texas--where we came from, and where we're going.
