1. California: Schwarzenegger and O'Connell React to Homeschool Ruling
In the wake of the unanimous ruling of the Second District Appellate
Court of Appeal to recognize homeschooling as a legal option in
California, two of California's most senior officials have given their
opinion of the ruling.

2. Iowa: State Withdraws Remediation Demand
A single low test score by a homeschool student resulted in demands
for remediation by state education officials. Home School Legal
Defense Association was able to show that those demands were
premature, and that remediation was not needed.

3. Maine: State Makes Demand for Unauthorized Information
The Department of Education recently sent a letter to a homeschooling
family asking for information that is required only for an initial
declaration of intent. HSLDA encourages other families who receive
this letter not to use it to file their "subsequent year" declaration
of homeschooling.

4. New Hampshire: Homeschoolers Have Freedom to Choose
A homeschooling family in Plymouth discovered their local school
district was more than willing to accept private school transcripts as
a valid homeschooling assessment option. This case illustrates the

The mayor of Rock Springs defended a proposed daytime curfew ordinance
