HSLDA: Earn College Credit in High School Dear students, Greetings from the Patrick Henry College Office of Admissions! As you are planning your classes for the upcoming school year, we encourage you to consider dual enrollment through PHC's Distance Learning program. Through our online classes, high school juniors and seniors can take the same classes that Patrick Henry freshmen take their first year on campus and earn both high school and college credit. Here are a few advantages of PHC online: 1. Gain experience with academically rigorous classes. Our distance learning courses are equally as challenging as our on-campus courses. You will learn the subject matter well -- and learn how a biblical worldview undergirds and informs our understanding of every subject. The experience will serve you well wherever you go after high school. 2. Make yourself a stronger candidate for admission. If you intend to apply for admission to Patrick Henry College, we strongly recommend taking distance learning courses in high school. The Admissions Review Committee looks very favorably on students who have a demonstrated track record of success in PHC classes! 3. Earn your humanities credits from a Christian worldview. Students intending to major in fields PHC doesn't offer can benefit from our core liberal arts curriculum by transferring credits to another institution. You would want to make sure the credits will transfer to the specific school(s) you are considering, but many students find it invaluable to learn philosophy, history, and literature from a Christian perspective. 4. Save money. Distance learning is significantly cheaper than on-campus tuition. Many families find that our Distance Learning program makes college much more affordable. For the list of available classes and full details about the program, please visit www.phc.edu/distancelearning. We will continue to accept and review applications until the first day of class (August 25th), but will waive the application fee for those who apply at least two weeks before then. Note also that anyone who has already graduated high school is welcome to apply. Our Distance Learning courses are open to college students hoping to transfer to another institution or to adult learners. Please feel free to e-mail me at dpburns@phc.edu or call 1-888-338-1776 any time you have questions. I hope to hear from you soon!
