2. Virginia: Board to Publish Correction Following Census Error

When a member family told HSLDA that a letter from local public school
officials said they "must" participate in the triennial census, we
intervened. The school board chairman acknowledged the letter was in

4. 2008 Poetry Contest Winners Announced

The results of the 2008 Poetry Contest are in! This year we added a
third category and asked students to respond to a new
challenge--writing a poem based on one of three famous American
paintings. The judges were delighted with the entries they
received--more than 250 poems were submitted in all three categories.
The creativity and discipline shown by students was truly inspiring.
