====================================================================== From the HSLDA E-lert Service... ====================================================================== Minnesota: Legislative Wrap-up Dear HSLDA Members and Friends: This year, Home School Legal Defense Association tracked approximately 22 bills in the Minnesota Legislature, ranging from funding universal preschool to the increase in the education tax credit and a proposed change in the compulsory school attendance age. As a result of the work of MACHE and HSLDA, homeschool freedoms were protected from further governmental intrusion. In May, Governor Tim Pawlenty vetoed the compulsory school attendance bill, which would have raised the compulsory school attendance age from 16 to 18. It is only because of the active involvement of homeschoolers that we can continue to influence policy and lawmakers to respect our freedom.
