The California Court of Appeal for the Second Appellate District found
in the case of In re: Rachel L. that a homeschooling family involved
in a juvenile court proceeding did not have a right to homeschool in
California unless the children's teacher held a California teaching
credential. That decision sent shock waves through the homeschooling
community.

2. Illinois: DuPage County Requires Unnecessary Registration
Illinois homeschooling families are not required to register their
homeschools, despite whatever forms they may receive in the mail from
public school officials.

3. Colorado: Homeschoolers Overcome Difficulties to Participate in
Rodeo
After being contacted by a member family, Home School Legal Defense
Association worked with a national rodeo organization to ensure a
change in policy would not discriminate against homeschoolers.

4. Florida: Member Obtains Cancellation of Portfolio Review
Public school officials decided not to require a member family to have
their students' portfolios reviewed after HSLDA intervened.

ParentalRights.org has released a new video discussing the threat to

6. Homeschooling Thru High School: Homeschool Graduation Celebrations
For those families who will graduate a homeschool senior soon,

8. 'Home School Heartbeat': Homeschooled Leader--James Madison
James Madison's childhood education, closely supervised by his
parents, prepared him for much more than his collegiate studies at
Princeton University. It also sparked his distinguished career as
American statesman and president. Madison's biblically based education
instilled in him a strong sense of the proper role of government,
inspiring him to play a crucial role in the constitutional debates. As
Mike Smith points out on this week's Home School Heartbeat, without
Madison's articulate defense of a federal form of government in
several of the Federalist Papers, it is doubtful the Constitution
would have ever been ratified.
