Virginia: Lynchburg Retracts Threat to Religious Exemptions Lynchburg City Public Schools backed away from adopting a policy that would have violated state law and interfered with the right of parents to religious exemption from public school attendance. Kentucky: School Demands Records An HSLDA member family in Clay County recently received a letter from their school district demanding that they turn over their children's grades, attendance records, and samples of their school work. Staff Attorney Thomas Schmidt quickly contacted the school and informed the school district that since the family was in compliance with state law and the Best Practices document they were not required to submit any records. Florida: Governor Declares Home Education Week March 30-April 6 Good news! Governor Charlie Crist has declared March 30-April 6 to be Home Education Week in Florida. This is the second year in a row that Governor Crist has issued a homeschool proclamation.
