Michigan: Your Attendance Needed for Home School Family Day at the Capitol!
Dear HSLDA Members and Friends:
We need your attendance at Home School Family Day at the Capitol in Lansing!
This year, it is more important than ever to have a large crowd there to lobby against the recently introduced H.B. 5912, the bill which would require homeschoolers to register with the state. The freedom you currently have to homeschool in Michigan is worth fighting to keep!
This important event will be held April 9, 2008 from 9 a.m.-3:30 p.m. in Lansing, Michigan in and around the Capitol Building. Home School Legal Defense Association Chairman and Founder Michael Farris will be there to speak on the need for a Parental Rights amendment to the United States Constitution.
We encourage you to attend and take advantage of this special program. Your homeschool family will have a unique opportunity to observe the legislative process and spend time with elected officials at the State Capitol. You will learn firsthand how laws are made, attend a committee meeting, visit your representative and senator, and observe a legislative session in progress. Choose from a variety of workshops and attend a legislative luncheon with state legislators and leaders.
This event is sponsored by the Home Education League of Michigan along with legislative co-sponsors (all homeschool dads) Representative Jack Hoogendyk (61st District), Representative Bill Huizenga (90th District) and Senator Alan Cropsey (33rd District).
During the visit with your representative and senator, you will also have the opportunity to express opposition to H.B. 5912 on a personal level. In order to further express your opposition to H.B. 5912, there will be rally at the Capitol steps from 11:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
Even if you cannot register to attend the day's event, please consider attending this free rally and bringing another family with you!
For more information, see www.HomeEdMi.net or contact Paulette Brack at (269) 353-9515. In order to plan for the size of the crowd, please send an email to HFDCinfo@HomeEdMi.net if you are planning to attend the rally.
Our parental and homeschool freedoms are best preserved when we all stand together to defend them. We look forward to seeing you at the Rally and Home School Family Day at the Capitol!
Sincerely,
Chris Klicka Senior Counsel

We don't know! But we do know that gathering little by little enables ordinary folks to prepare for hard times. That principle is behind HSLDA's payment plan: by paying a month at a time, families can receive an annual HSLDA membership. Meanwhile, they can feel secure as they homeschool and focus on other priorities -- their children. Don't go nuts trying to pay for membership all at once. Choose one of our convenient payment plans.
