New Mexico--More Calls Needed TODAY to Stop Domestic Partnerships
Dear HSLDA Members and Friends,
Good news! Thanks to your many phone calls, H.B. 9 was again
postponed!
However, H.B. 9 has again been rescheduled for today for 2 p.m. We
need you to keep calling to stop this anti-family bill which would
permit same-sex couples to enter into spousal unions and to have the
same rights, responsibilities, and obligations as married couples.
As we mentioned, currently five senators on the committee have
committed to vote against H.B. 9: Payne, Adair, Cravens, Harden, and
Rainaldi. The other five members of the committee need to hear from
you concerning your opposition to H.B. 9.
We are very close to victory!
ACTION REQUESTED
Call each of the senators on SJC today and, in your own words, give
them this message:
"Please vote no on H.B. 9. This bill elevates same-sex persons to that
of married men and women. The rights and benefits can be obtained
through private agreement and the State does not need to endorse such
an agreement."
Don't be afraid to call again even if you have already called. These
senators need to know that we will not give up until this bill is
defeated!

BACKGROUND
Your right to homeschool rests on another freedom: the freedom to
direct the education and upbringing of your children. Underlying your
right to homeschool are parental rights, which are supported by the
sanctity of marriage. Anything that undermines marriage may ultimately
undermine parental rights and therefore threaten your freedom to
homeschool.
