1. Hawaii: Concerned Family Declines Evaluation

A member family reluctantly agreed to let public school officials
evaluate their son for special learning needs. However, when they
learned the evaluation included "observation" of their homeschool,
they stood up for their right to privately education their son.

2. Daytime Curfews Continue to Threaten Freedom

Once again, homeschoolers across the country are facing the threat of
daytime curfews. Within the last year, city councils in California,
Missouri, New Jersey, Ohio, and Texas have considered such curfews.

4. Donor Challenges Others to Help Complete College Facility

Patrick Henry College Chancellor Michael Farris has announced that a
major donor has guaranteed the completion of the new student life
center now under construction. The guarantee comes in the form of a
"challenge grant" meant to enlarge the college's base of existing
donors.

5. Marketing Project Manager Position Open

HSLDA is looking for a marketing professional with a strong project
management background. This person will be responsible for
researching, implementing, and evaluating membership promotions and

6. 'Home School Heartbeat': Classical Conversations

I'd love to use a classical approach in my homeschool, but I don't
