====================================================================== From the HSLDA E-lert Service... ====================================================================== November 9, 2007 HSLDA--Urgent Email needed for Romanian Homeschoolers Dear HSLDA Members and Friends: Homeschooling is not legal in Romania, even though the homeschool movement is steadily growing. Home School Legal Defense Association has been working with Gabriel Curcubet, president of the Romanian Home Schooling Association, in order to convince the Romanian government to specifically recognize and legalize homeschooling. For now, we have achieved a way for homeschooling to exist, but this solution is only temporary. A recent change in Romania's leadership has given an opportunity for homeschooling to become legal. The Romanian homeschoolers have requested that homeschoolers from America and around the world email the members of the two education committees in Parliament immediately. The new Ministry of Education wants to review the Education Law projects and to complete this national education law in November. Therefore, time is of the essence. Will you please take a moment and send an email to help our brothers and sisters in Romania enjoy the freedom we have in America? ACTION REQUESTED Please send an email which states: "Honorable member of the Committee for Education, Science, Youth, and Sport: "We respectfully urge you to consider the petition of the Romanian Home Schooling Association regarding homeschooling. We ask you to include homeschooling in the new educational law as they recommend." Also include a paragraph about the social and academic success of homeschooling in your family. To email the members of these Committees, please go to http://www.hslda.org/elink.asp?id=4527 ; this webpage will enable you to write one email which will then be sent to all the members of the Education Committee of both the Chamber of the Deputies and the Senate. By sending this one email through our website, 35 members of parliament will receive your individual message from your email address. You can send your email through November 28, 2007.
