====================================================================== From the HSLDA E-lert Service... ====================================================================== Invitation to HSLDA's CAP Training Day on December 10 Dear HSLDA Members and Friends, HSLDA's Federal Relations Department is reaching out to all homeschool families who are interested in lobbying Congress on homeschool issues. Training homeschool families to take on Capitol Hill is the main focus of the Congressional Action Program (CAP). Our CAP training day will take place at Patrick Henry College on Monday, December 10, from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Lunch is included. Our goals for the day include having current CAP members share some of their lobbying experiences and tips of what works (and what does not), and having speakers address some of the issues we will discuss with congressional legislators and staffers. We will also prepare you for our second CAP on the Hill lobbying day in Washington, D.C., scheduled for January, 2008. WHAT WE NEED FROM YOU 1) Fill out a CAP application: Every HSLDA member family who has completed the CAP application form at http://www.hslda.org/elink.asp?id=4396 by December 6 is qualified to attend. Please make sure to list all family members who will be participating. 2) Register for Training Day: If you have filled out a CAP application previously, please let us know by December 6 if you can attend this event and how many people will be coming with you. Please email CAP@hslda.org to RSVP. You are welcome to attend the training session even if you are not sure if you will be able to attend the CAP on the Hill lobbying day in January. 3) Invite others: This is a great time to invite friends to get involved in CAP lobbying. They will need to fill out a CAP registration form at http://www.hslda.org/elink.asp?id=4396 . COST There is no cost for this event if you paid at our first CAP training day in March, 2007. If this will be your first CAP training day, then there is a cost of $15 per family.
