====================================================================== From the HSLDA E-lert Service... ====================================================================== HSLDA: Join Michael Farris at Presidential Candidates' Forum Dear HSLDA Members and Friends: Michael Farris, Chairman and General Counsel of Home School Legal Defense Association, has been invited to speak at the Palmetto Family Presidential Stump Meeting and Straw Poll on Thursday, September 20. Hosted by Palmetto Family Council, the event begins at 6 p.m. at the Columbia Metropolitan Convention Center. Speakers include all but one of the Republican presidential candidates. Several of them will be present, while others will be either showing videos or phoning in. Three of the Democratic candidates have expressed interest in participating, and a number of statewide South Carolina elected officials will be in attendance. Students will not want to miss this unique opportunity to observe politics and faith in action. Not only is this South Carolina's first statewide poll, this is also the first poll of the country presented from a family values perspective. From 5-5:30 p.m., Mr. Farris will hold a meeting for Generation Joshua members and parents to discuss ways students can be engaged in politics in an effort to influence the civic arena for Christ. All students interested in meeting with Mr. Farris and learning more about Generation Joshua (www.generationjoshua.org) are welcome to attend. Also during the event, Mr. Farris will deliver a speech on the present assault on parents' rights and the importance of including a parental rights amendment in the text of the U.S. Constitution. Tickets are $50, and admission for children under age 18 is $15. All funds will go toward the work of Palmetto Family Council. Mr. Farris will be present to promote the work of the Palmetto Family Council and not to endorse any particular candidate.
