3. New York: Annual Assessment Woes

The end of the academic year often brings frustration for some New
York homeschoolers, as they struggle with public school officials over
their annual assessments. HSLDA firmly supports homeschoolers as they
seek to comply with this onerous regulation.

4. Louisiana: Homeschool Discrimination Averted at Art Festival

HSLDA helped prevent potential discrimination against homeschoolers by
reminding art festival officials of their obligation to open the
public event to all students.

5. Kentucky: Two Districts Demand Records

Homeschoolers in two counties contacted HSLDA after receiving letters
from public school officials demanding copies of attendance records,
report cards and curriculum. We informed officials that there was no
legal basis for their demands.

6. California: Daytime Curfew Complaint Dismissed

A California judge dismissed a citation against an HSLDA member's
child alleging that he'd violated Los Angeles County's daytime curfew
ordinance.
