The past year for Patrick Henry College, located in beautiful
Purcellville, Va., has been one of remarkable progress. First and
foremost, on April 17, the college attained accreditation from the
Transnational Association of Christian Colleges and Schools, which is
recognized as a national accrediting body by the U.S. Department of
Education.

2. Maine: Power to Make New Homeschool Regulations Abolished

With a stroke of the pen last week, Maine's Governor John Baldacci
brought protection for homeschool freedom to a new level by taking
away the commissioner of education's power to make new homeschool
regulations.

3. 2007 Photo Contest Winners Announced

Home School Legal Defense Association is thrilled to announce the
winners of the 2007 Photography Contest. Homeschoolers submitted 426
entries this year, 226 in Category I (ages 9-13), and 200 in Category
II (ages 14-18). The judges were amazed at both the quality and
creativity of the entries this year. "I was impressed with the variety
of concept interpretations displayed in both categories," said one
judge.

4. Notecards by Homeschoolers Help Homeschoolers

New to the HSLDA Bookstore are blank floral notecards featuring
photographs taken by homeschoolers as part of the 2006 HSLDA Photo
Contest. The 5-by-7-inch notecards come in packages of 12; each
package contains four floral designs with white envelopes. Proceeds
benefit the Home School Foundation Compassion Fund to assist
homeschoolers in need.
