====================================================================== From the HSLDA E-lert Service... ====================================================================== Texas: Calls Needed For Tomorrow's Vote for Homeschooler Access to Exams Dear HSLDA members and friends: As we have reported to you before, H.B. 1844, sponsored by Representative Charlie Howard, will require public school districts to publish the dates of testing for the PSAT to homeschoolers and allow homeschoolers to take AP tests. Thanks for your calls last week to the committee! This bill passed the House Public Education Committee and will be voted on by the full House on Wednesday, April 18. HSLDA Legislative Counsel Tom Sanders has been lobbying for it and has already met with the Senate sponsor, Senator Kyle Janek to lend HSLDA's support. We have had reports from our members in the past that they have been denied access to these tests. This bill will remedy the situation. Your calls are needed now to ensure the passage of H.B. 1844 by the full House. REQUESTED ACTION Please call your state representative and give him or her message: "Please vote in favor of H.B. 1844, introduced by Rep. Howard. This bill will end the discrimination against homeschool students seeking to take college entrance exams and PSAT and AP testing."
