====================================================================== From the HSLDA E-lert Service... ====================================================================== Nevada: Calls Still Needed to Support Homeschool Freedom Bill Dear HSLDA members and friends, Calls are needed once again to keep the Homeschool Freedom Bill, S.B. 404, alive. If the bill does not get through the Senate Human Resources and Education Committee by this Friday, it will die. Now, more than ever, the Committee needs to feel pressure from the citizens of Nevada concerning their support of this bill. Senator Maurice E. Washington is the sponsor of S.B. 404, as well as the Chair of the Senate Human Resources and Education Committee, and is spearheading the efforts to pass it through. Barbara Dragon and Frank Schnorbus, Nevada homeschool leaders, will once again testify in support of the bill. Calls are needed through Friday afternoon to urge the Committee to vote in favor of S.B. 404. REQUESTED ACTION: Please call between now and Friday afternoon as many members of the Senate Human Resources and Education Committee as you can and give them this message: "Please support S.B. 404 introduced by Senator Washington. This bill will better protect parental rights and choice in the area of education. It will also save taxpayers' money by reducing unnecessary bureaucratic oversight over homeschoolers."
