Thank you for your prayers, calls and e-mails during both the regular and special legislative sessions. We give glory to God for the victory over the bills that threatened families. HB 603 would have created domestic partnerships, which would have allowed same sex partnerships. This bill then became HB 4 in the special session. Thankfully, both were defeated. Additionally, the Albuquerque Journal reported that "Gov. Bill Richardson said Tuesday he will veto a bill that would mandate cervical cancer vaccinations for all sixth-grade girls. 'While everyone recognizes the benefits of this vaccine, there is insufficient time to educate parents, schools and health care providers,' Richardson said in a prepared statement."
