====================================================================== From the HSLDA E-lert Service... ====================================================================== HSLDA: Register now for the Generation Joshua Summer Camp Dear HSLDA members and friends: The Generation Joshua Summer Family/Teen Camp at Camp Ocoee in Eastern Tennessee, July 1-7, will be a week of discovery about how you and your family can play a vital role in transforming our nation for Christ in the civic and political arenas. The week features seminars from some of today's top conservative leaders and thinkers. This year's inspiring speakers include Dr. Jeff Myers of Myers Institute, Debbie Brezina of Summit Ministries, with invited guests including Mike Farris and Congressman Geoff Davis. Past speakers have included David Barton of WallBuilders and Bill Jack of Worldview Academy, as well as former Congressmen Jim Ryun and Bob Schaeffer. Back by popular demand is camp's "Mock Presidential Campaign," which runs the duration of the week interspersed between seminars and recreational activities. The mock campaign is an opportunity for campers to learn hands-on the basics of the candidate system and grassroots campaigning. Throughout the week, campers select candidates to run in the primary election, create campaign commercials, lobby special interest groups (i.e. parents) for money (i.e. "Ned bucks"), and register voters. At the end of the week, a general election is held for camp president. GenJ Camp also features a wide array of family-friendly indoor and outdoor activities. Some of the scheduled outdoor activities include swimming, whitewater rafting, paintball, archery, and a climbing wall. Indoor activities include "Virtual Congress," a group congressional simulation, and Founding Fathers Jeopardy. The camp is open both to teens and families. Teenagers (13-19) are welcome to attend with or without a parent or guardian. For families that wish to attend, there is a special rate. Space is limited however, so be sure to register soon. To find out more about GenJ Camp including information on pricing and how to register, please visit http://www.hslda.org/elink.asp?id=3990 . Sincerely, J.
