New Hampshire--More Calls Needed to Defend Traditional Family
Dear HSLDA members and friends,
Thank you all for your support of traditional marriage in New Hampshire! Your presence in Concord on Tuesday and phone calls throughout the week made a difference. Because of you, House Bill 235, which would require New Hampshire to recognize all out-of-state marriages, was sent back to the Judiciary Committee. Furthermore, the House decided to postpone voting on the other same-sex marriage bills.
The battle is not yet over, though. Calls and emails are needed to encourage the Judiciary Committee to stop House Bill 235 and to ask your representatives to vote no on House Bills 437, 905, and 791.
Remember that unless New Hampshire citizens actively and publicly protest this type of legislation, marriage as we know it in New Hampshire will be destroyed. It is vital that we support traditional marriage because a parent's right to homeschool is based on western civilization's concept of the family as a union between a man and a woman.
ACTION REQUESTED
1) Contact as many members of the House Judiciary Committee (listed below) as possible and ask them to vote House Bill 235 "Inexpedient to Legislate."
2) Contact your state representative, and encourage him or her to vote in support of traditional marriage. In your own words, give this message:
"New Hampshire law already defines marriage as the union of a man and a woman. This should not be changed. Please oppose legislation that recognizes same-sex marriage and give New Hampshire citizens the chance to express their views on the constitutional amendment defining traditional marriage. Please vote against all bills that erode the strength of the traditional family and threaten parental rights, specifically House Bills 437, 791, and 905."
You do not have to identify yourself as a homeschooler. Though this issue affects homeschoolers, it also affects every family in New Hampshire.
You can find your representative's information at http://www.hslda.org/toolbox .
