The domestic partnership bill, H.B. 603, was never passed by the New Mexico House. However, Governor Bill Richardson called for a special session, and on that very same day, H.B. 4 (the special session version of regular session H.B. 603) was voted out of the House Judiciary Committee. Since the domestic partnership bill could come to a vote in the full House during the special session, we need to keep pressure on the legislators. Please take a moment to call your representative. REQUESTED ACTION Please call and/or email your New Mexico State Representative and give him or her this message: "Please oppose legislation that recognizes domestic partner rights. Please vote against H.B. 4, which is an attack on traditional marriage, erodes the family and endangers parental rights." You do not need to identify yourself as a homeschooler. Though this bill affects homeschoolers, it also affects every family in New Mexico. Underlying your right to homeschool are parental rights, which are supported by the sanctity of marriage.
