Colorado: Homeschoolers Exempted From Compulsory Attendance Age Expansion The united voices of Colorado homeschoolers helped defeat attempts to extend the compulsory attendance age last year. A new compulsory attendance age bill is headed for the governor, but it contains an exemption for homeschoolers. Illinois: Superintendent Demands Homeschoolers Register In the Charleston school district, letters were sent to all known homeschool families signed by the regional public school superintendent, demanding each family register. The Home School Legal Defense Association wrote to the school district, explaining that this was an illegal requirement. Florida: Anonymous Tipster Turns in Homeschoolers The same day they moved into a new home, the Love family was visited by a social worker investigating an anonymous tip. As a homeschooling family in a new neighborhood, the Loves turned to HSLDA for help. Texas: District Requires Homeschoolers to Fill Out Unnecessary Form A member family contacted us when local public school officials tried to make them fill out a so-called "Homeschool Declaration Form."
