====================================================================== From the HSLDA E-lert Service... ====================================================================== Congressional Action Program Lobby Training Day Registration Closing Soon! Dear Homeschool Family, There is still room for your family to register for the CAP Lobby Training Day at Patrick Henry College on March 9. Registration closes on Friday, March 2, so please go to http://nche.hslda.org/cap/ to register if you would like to attend and for more information. HSLDA's CAP Training Day is a part of the Congressional Action Program (CAP) which exists to create a citizen lobby force that will make a difference on Capitol Hill when there is important legislation pending that could affect homeschooling freedoms. Many of you may remember that CAP was active throughout the 1990s. Moms, dads, and teens, working under the direction of HSLDA staff, played an important role in helping persuade congressmen to vote in favor of homeschool freedoms. They helped defeat H.R. 6 in 1994, when Congress attempted to require all teachers, including homeschool parents, to be licensed teachers. CAP lobbyists also helped defeat President Clinton's national test and Goals 2000. In addition, CAP also supported legislation which favored homeschool freedom. Through the experience gained at the CAP Training Day on March 9, you will be equipped and ready to take on Capitol Hill when called upon. We look forward to seeing you on March 9. Please call our office at 540-338-5600 and ask for Cristina Meier, or email us at cap@hslda.org if you have any questions. For liberty, J. Michael Smith President William A. But we do know that gathering little by little enables ordinary folks to prepare for hard times. That principle is behind HSLDA's payment plan: by paying a month at a time, families can receive an annual HSLDA membership. Meanwhile, they can feel secure as they homeschool and focus on other priorities -- their children. Don't go nuts trying to pay for membership all at once. Choose one of our convenient payment plans.
