====================================================================== From the HSLDA E-lert Service... ====================================================================== Virginia--Calls Needed Now to Help Pass $1,200 Tax Credit for Homeschoolers Dear HSLDA members and friends: We need your calls Friday, February 2, and over the weekend to support tax credits and scholarships for homeschoolers. We urge you to call to support House Bill 1843, introduced by Delegate Christopher B. Saxman. It provides a $1,200 tax credit and scholarships for homeschool families and others. Thank you for your calls to the committee. You played a part in the bill passing House committee 11 to 9 (two supporters were absent), and the final vote in the House could be on Monday, February 5. ACTION REQUESTED Please call immediately and give the following message to your delegate: "We are parents of school-age children who need tax relief. Please support House Bill 1843 which will provide scholarships for tuition, book fees, and educational fees. We thank you for supporting this measure." To find the contact information for your delegate, use our legislative toolbox at http://www.hslda.org/toolbox . You do not need to call the bill sponsor, Delegate Saxman. BACKGROUND The bill also helps public schools. Tax credits are created for donations to foundations to help pay for construction projects and extracurricular activities, including sports, band and chorus. You may view the bill at http://www.hslda.org/elink.asp?id=3627 . Thank you for standing with us for freedom. Sincerely Yours, Scott A.
