====================================================================== From the HSLDA E-lert Service... ====================================================================== Michigan--No More Calls Needed on Compulsory Attendance Legislation Dear Michigan HSLDA members and friends: I thank you for your calls and emails in response to our e-lert regarding Senate Bill 11 and House Bill 4042 which would raise the age of compulsory attendance from 16 to 18. We have reports that hundreds of you communicated to the sponsors of the bills, saying you opposed this legislation. The sponsors heard your message. Wayne Kuipers, the Chair of the Senate Education Committee, has indicated to homeschool leaders in Michigan that the Senate version of the bill will not be reported out of the Education Committee. This is good news! At this time, there is no further need to make calls or send emails regarding these bills. If perchance the bill later begins to move, we will contact you immediately.
