Your calls played an important part in the passage of the Religious Freedom Act (HB 3082) out of subcommittee today. In a vote of 7-3, the subcommittee on Civil Courts sent the Religious Freedom Act onto the full committee for a vote in the near future. The bill was passed in a bi-partisan manner which is key for its ultimate passage in the whole Assembly. Home School Legal Defense Association Attorney Scott Woodruff provided key evidence in his testimony for the need of a religious protection act. In addition, pivotal testimony was provided by State Solicitor General Bill Thro who answered many questions from the delegates. We are very thankful to Delegate Scott Lingamfelter who is spearheading this important piece of legislation. This is the best start the Religious Freedom Act has received in the three years we have tried to get it passed. We believe this will be the year it will go all the way.
